Laser engraving a Star Wars battle scene on an AR15 lower

As an example piece to highlight in-house laser engraving capabilities, Prince Customs chose to mark an 80% AR15 lower with a battle scene from Star Wars (Illustrated by Randy Martinez). The flat areas on the lower were measured and a frame for the artwork was created with those dimensions. In order to produce the different shades of white/gray and deeper background engraving, the artwork was converted into a vector format so that the marking parameters could be edited for each part individually. This conversion also ensured the edges remain super crisp.

Following the conversion, the files are uploaded on the laser and alignment of each piece is checked. The dark gray background is deep engraved then covered with another pass to create the shade. All the white portions were created by chemically altering the black anodized surface without creating depth. Finally, the red laser beams were deep engraved and hand filled with enamel. Below are some images of the final product and a video of the laser creating the white portions of the artwork.
