Creating the wall tiles at The Rice Box

The Rice Box wanted their first freestanding brick and mortar to be special and to draw aesthetic influence from the movie Blade Runner. One element that the owner really wanted was wall tiles to emulate the Frank Lloyd Wright Ennis House that Harrison Ford called home in the movie.

Their design team picked out a wall and integrated the logo into a tile design. From there, Prince Customs worked with The Rice Box to finalize a tile and filler panel layout that would fit the overall density that the owner was looking for, based off of examples found in the actual house.

When the layout was finalized, the CAD models for the tiles were edited and optimized to make the most out of the owner's desired bas-relief depth. After the 3D modeling, CAM programming was done to guide our CNC mill in cutting out the form of each piece from a slab of MDF.
